Watched it on a whim.

My girlfriend and i went to the cinema...

Unfortunately there wasn't much that took our fancy.
We spotted a Life Aquatic cinema poster. (Looked interesting enough and did have Bill Murray!)

Well we have come this far might as-well see something. (30min drive to the cinema)

Walked out the movie scratching my head...

Wasn't until i was in the car on the way home i was convinced that it was my favorite film!

The humor is kind of dry for the most part and not your typical toilet humor stuff. You have to get into the characters before you get it. At least this is the way it was for me.

I've watched it, but I didn't find it as good as I expected from your descriptions. Or maybe I should watch it again cause I missed the whole thing? But the more I watch him acting, the more I find Bill Murray (he's not famous in France at all) is a kind of alien amongst other actors, he seems to play naturally, like if it was real life. He is a character by himself. Klaus is maybe the most funny character of the movie, in my opinion.
