Default RAT Cutlery/ESSE Fire Kit

Hi Gang,

I recently bought a Swedish fire steel & it performs brilliantly.

Was so excited to go camping with it that when i did i forgot to bring a lighter.
Being a smoker every-time i wanted a light i had to start a mini fire!

I turned semi pro at magnesium fire making by the end of the trip!

Here is another interesting fire kit i wanted to share.

Its the RAT/ESSE Cutlery Fire Kit - Mil-Spec Anodized Fire Starter.

I dig that it has a removable / replaceable Misch Metal flint. Also a watertight capsule that has plenty of storage space for tinder, fishhooks, line and other essential survival tools.

It will also fit a button compass in the lid/cap see website pics.

I now carry my Swedish fire steel in a small Sea to Summit dry sack with tinder. Keeps it toasty dry for lighting.

Its one of those things...

I already have a fire steel...

It works fine...

I don't need another one...

But this one has a water tight capsule...

hmmm

And a removable flint....

hmmm

Keep talking little voice in my head...

You can afford it if you just live off rice and tinned tuna this week?

OK OK OK ill buy it!

See how easy it is to convince yourself!
