I do have it. I think I'd be better off if I had one less reason to be on the computer, not more things to do. Frankly, I feel better working than surfing.

I'm not sure what skype is. I'll look it up though.

skype is a tool that can make a phone call via internet , with very cheap fee you have to pay .
and members on the internet can chat free like MSN , ICQ.

cool uh?
if you wanta call someone aboard or very far away , you can get a account of skype and charge some , then you can call anyone who have a cell phone or wierd telephone.
the fee is cheaper than that making a phone call.

This is the part of the "connected" younger generation that I simply do not understand as an older guy.

Do you know how much money I have spent in my life to get away from people? I carry a cell phone because my provider offers their form of "On Star." If I want to ride and decompress, I just shut the phone off. The first time someone sent me a text I thought my phone was broken--it made an unholy differing tone I had never heard before, and I had owned the phone at that time for over three years.

Surveys show that the bulk of calls between a man and his wife relate to evening dinner plans. I would guess that between my wife and I that's 2/3s of our communication.

I've now seen guys texting while lifting weights at the gym. I got a text from a bro a few weeks ago.

If he is indeed ROTFLMAO, then he is covered in spit, road grime, spilled beer and peanut shells because I've seen the floor at that bar.

I just don't get this brave new world.

Noss, Skype to Skype calls are free, you might get some latency on some calls, but still free. Also very difficult to tap, because each call goes through different servers on the Internet. You can use it to send text messages too and conference call in more than one Skype user, also for free. As mentioned above, you can buy Skype credits that you can use to call landlines and mobiles, the cost of each number is shown so you know how much you are spending. Of course Skype to Skype is best.

There is also a video option with Skype, but it takes up a lot of bandwidth. If you have a laptop with built in webcam (optional), mic and speakers, you are ready to go. If you have a desktop PC, I find that a set of headphones and mic with in-line switch and volume control works best. You might need to play with the settings to get it all working, but it is worth it.

If you need help to set up, let me know.

Cheers

Tourist: I may be a part of the younger, connected, generation, but I don't care much for it either. I got rid of my cell because I always kept it turned off so I wouldnt have to talk.
