Personnally, under no circumstance would I use a folder as a fixed camp knife. And really I don't understand why some manufacturers desperately try to design a folder that would do the job of a fixed. And why not a woman with a dick? Inherently, a fixed is stronger than a folder, and they are lot of cheap good utility 4-6" fixed that can do perfectly the job it would take high-tech manufacture and heavy materials to give even a fraction of it's rigidity for a folder. And here is a proof, even Striders, which have a good reputation of solid, high quality knives can't take it, while a 15$ Mora Clipper will do it.

That was the point of the video as I was saying in it that if you don't have a fixed blade with you and should be using a fixed blade etc.

In a pinch they do work, it survived it in one piece, it just needs to go into the SPA, already contacted Strider and they said it's covered and they saw the video.

Strider liked the video.

Strider Customer service and their warranty is freaking awesome.

Ok, sorry, I watched more than I listened. But I should try such field use with a Douk-Douk also "just in case"... but it's a 20$ knife. Hopefully Strider stands behind their products, but for the price they can.

Ok yeah, I am sending it in tomorrow, it's covered.

And I forgot to mention.....

THE LOCK HELD through all of it, even though it's really loose it still held and will still pass the spine whack test.

That is one tough ass blade.

It's fine again, cleaned it up and gave it a few spine whacks and it's like new.

Great. Good to see some hard use folders in action other than tomato slicing. A folder of this type should be able to take some mild punishment. If not then the whole hard use folder market is just a gimmick.

I Haven't tried anything like this with my Douk Douk yet. I figure as long as the pivot pin holds up it shouldn't have any problems duplicating this. I have of course done this with the RAO with no problems but were talking about much different builds here.

Thanks for the video.

Yeah really, I figured that it would be a good test for them, something that one might have to really do while in the field if all they had was a folding knife with them.

I broke a Spyderco MIlitary a few years ago doing pretty much the same thing, snapped the blade on it. LOL

One of the reasons why I hate Spyderco knives.

Sounds completely reasonable to me. No folder is ever going to be a good replacement for a quality fixed blade. I mean folders are already basically broke to begin with.

I only own one Spyderco. It's not very heavy duty. I would probably be more confident batoning the Douk. I haven't tried either one though. You have me curious now. By morning I may be two folders short.

I totally agree 100%, I even stated it in both of the folder videos.
