I make these & keep them with my firesteels.
It has been flooding down here in Mississippi, and wet or not, these will start a fire if you have no dry tinder!
To make I cut my "Fat lighter" into a bar, drill a lanyard hole, and take some "Bailing" rope, tie it, and dip it in Melted wax.
To start
1.Shave your lighter
2.Un-ravel a piece of your rope (notice the wax!)
3. Hit it with your firesteel. (It ignites unbelievably easy, even wet, & burns long)
4. Light you "Fat Lighter
5. Light your wood!
6. Put out yor rope, you can hardly tell it is used, and you can re-use it many times.
I think this is the perfect companion to a firesteel, especially in wet conditions!
